New Spark Plug for 2.4L Engine
The new style spark plug is now recommended and preferred
for use in all 2004 and previous model years that are equipped
with a 2.4L engine. Spark Plug gap is to be set at .040
The new spark plug is more resistant to possible cold
engine carbon fouling.
Note: To eliminate concerns of a possible high secondary
ignition voltage flashover, caused by the thermal set of
the ignition cable spark plug boot(s), to the old style
spark plugs (RE14MCC5), install new ignition cables when
replacing the old style spark plugs with the new style spark
plugs, RE16MC or LZTR4A-11, for the first time.

Irregular Engine Snapping Sound
OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves chamfering the bore
radius on cam bearing caps L2 through L5 and R2 through R5.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a
2.0L, 2.4L DOHC, or 2.4L Turbo engine (sales code ECC,
EDZ, ED1, EDV, ED2, or EDT).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The sound may be noticed when the
engine is idling in park between idle rpm and 1400 rpm at
normal operating temperature. The sound is on the upper
end of the engine (cylinder head) towards the front of the
engine or passenger side (right side). The sound is
irregular, not periodic or harmonious. The frequency of
the sound will increase with RPM. The sound is more of a
higher pitch snapping noise, not a low metallic knock.

Electrical Connector Seal Inspection/Repair Procedure.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector
seals on your vehicle may be out of place. This could
allow water to enter the PCM. Water and resulting
corrosion inside of the connector can cause various
electrical and drivability concerns.
What DC and your dealer will do:
DC will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor).
To do this, your dealer will inspect the PCM electrical
connector seals and repair any that are found to be out
of place. If a connector is corroded, the PCM and affected
wire harness will be replaced.

7/70 Powertrain Warranty Underscores Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® Quality
July 8th, 2002 - Starting July 9, 2002, Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles are covered by a seven-year or 70,000-mile powertrain warranty on all new Chrysler Group vehicles. This industry-leading warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners. It represents the Chrysler Group's long term multi-brand campaign to underscor quality gains.
Warranty costs for Chrysler Group products have decreased by 20 percent in the last model year, and by half since 1996. DaimlerChrysler officials believe the company's unique combination of American ingenuity and German engineering will help sustain high quality levels in the years ahead. Also at the root of the company's ability to offer this extensive warranty are substantial investments in new engines and transmissions for Chrysler Group vehicles--more than $7.5 billion during the past several years.
This special report supplements the warranty announcement with facts about features of the program, key quality statistics, a program logo and copies of print ads.
DaimlerChrysler Corporation today announced it will provide an industry-leading seven year/70,000-mile limited powertrain warranty on its Chrysler, Jeep ® and Dodge brand vehicles.
The warranty, which is fully transferable to subsequent owners at no extra cost, will be provided free of charge on all new Chrysler Group vehicles purchased or leased on or after July 9, 2002. Components covered by the "7/70 Powertrain Warranty" include engines, transmissions/transaxles, transfer cases and axles.
Powertrain component coverage becomes effective following the standard bumper-to-bumper coverage of three years or 36,000 miles on all other components, and extends to seven years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The 7/70 Powertrain Warranty covers all vehicle lines except select commercial fleet vehicles. Remaining 2002 models also will be covered by the new warranty.
"Simply stated, our overall quality levels have improved substantially while warranty costs have dropped 20 percent in the latest model year, and have been cut in half since 1996," said Dieter Zetsche, Chrysler Group President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our entire management group has a mindset of making quality the top priority, and this program is yet another milestone in our 'disciplined pizzazz' approach."
"Going forward, no one is better positioned to keep this priority in sharp focus as we combine American innovation and design with German quality and technology," added Zetsche. "This new warranty also enables us to break from the pack when it comes to customer peace-of-mind."
